AppSec Vs. InfoSec

Two important areas of cybersecurity are often used interchangeably – Information Security (InfoSec) and Application Security (AppSec). Some techniques and tools address both, but they do it in very different ways and require very different skills and knowledge. InfoSec is primarily used for network and server security. It focuses on an outside-in approach by monitoring for malicious activity and then taking appropriate action reactively. AppSec however, is focused on vulnerabilities that exist within a software application that can easily be exploited by hackers.
